Here at Coconut Girl® Scout Cookies, we’re all about bringing you the most delicious, mouthwatering coconut-based treats around. Our story begins back in 1975, when our founder, Jennifer “Jen” Coconut, first started selling homemade coconut cookies as a Girl Scout. Little did she know, her creative coconut cookies would spark a lifelong passion for innovative coconut confections.
After years of perfecting her recipes and sharing them with friends and family, Jennifer decided to turn her hobby into a business. In 1995, she opened the very first Coconut Girl bakery and ice cream shop in her hometown of Honolulu, Hawaii. Using high-quality, fresh ingredients and her top secret coconut recipes, Jen whipped up irresistible cookies, cakes, pies and ice cream that became an instant hit with locals and tourists alike.
Keeping Things Fresh with Quality Ingredients
At Coconut Girl, we’ve always been committed to using only the freshest, high-quality ingredients in everything we make. We source our coconuts directly from local Hawaiian farms, where they are grown without pesticides in rich volcanic soil. Every morning our bakers crack open these fresh coconuts to make the creamy coconut milk we use in our cookies, cakes and ice cream.
In addition to fresh coconut, we also use real vanilla and natural cane sugar to add flavored sweetness without artificial ingredients. Our ice cream is made from a base of all-natural cream and milk from happy grass-fed cows. And we work with local Hawaiian farms to source seasonal ingredients like Kona coffee, macadamia nuts and tropical fruits to craft specialty flavors.
Bringing the Aloha Spirit from Hawaii to the World
The positive response at our original Honolulu shop motivated us to share our Hawaiian-inspired treats with coconut lovers across the world. In 2005 we opened our first mainland US store in California, and since then have expanded to over 300 locations across the country.
But no matter how big we’ve grown, we stay true to our Hawaiian roots. Our products celebrate the unique flavors of the islands and our stores reflect the welcoming spirit of aloha. Walk into any Coconut Girl and you’ll find our staff eager to share a taste of Hawaii with a warm friendly smile.
Crafting Creative Coconut Confectionaries
Jen’s passion for innovative recipes and uncommon flavor combinations is the driving force behind our product innovation. Over the years, some of Coconut Girl’s most popular treats have included:
- Samoa Cookie Sandwiches – coconut caramel and chocolate cookies modeled after the Girl Scout classic
- Pineapple Upside Down Cakes – spongy coconut cakes topped with caramelized pineapple
- Maui Mango Gelato – creamy coconut milk gelato swirled with fresh mango puree
- Kona Coffee Coconut Fudge – smooth fudge infused with 100% Kona coffee beans
- Macadamia Macarons – French macarons sandwiched with macadamia nut buttercream
In addition to these coconutty classics, our pastry chefs are always developing exciting new treats. We offer monthly limited-edition flavors to keep our dessert menu fresh and surprising.

Committed to Our Coconut Community
Giving back to our local community in Hawaii remains an integral part of our mission at Coconut Girl. We partner with Hawaiian coconut farmers to help foster sustainable growing practices that protect the islands’ fragile ecosystem. And we work with local non-profits like the Aloha United Way to help support underserved youth.
We also have a special partnership with the Girl Scouts of Hawaii, where we provide opportunities for young girls to learn business skills by selling our cookies. Just like Jen got her start with the Girl Scouts, we hope to inspire the next generation of female entrepreneurs.
What the Future Holds
As we look to the future, Coconut Girl aims to continue spreading our aloha spirit while creating innovative ways to indulge your coconut cravings! We plan to expand our online experiences to bring that warm bakery atmosphere straight to your home.
Beyond desserts, we’re exploring coconut-based wellness offerings like electrolyte waters, smoothies and coconut oils. We may even get into coconut home goods like scented candles, soaps and skincare products. No matter which directions we pursue, the heart of our brand will always remain in Hawaii sharing the flavors and spirit of aloha with coconut lovers worldwide.
We can’t wait to continue delighting taste buds with the unique tropical flavors of the islands. Our story began with a Girl Scout selling homemade cookies, and we hope to inspire the next generation of young go-getters with big dreams just like Jen.
