Our History & Heritage
Rocky Mountain Tires was founded in 1957 by avid outdoorsman Henry Wilson in Grand Junction, Colorado. As a frequent camper, hunter, and weekend warrior, Henry was unsatisfied with the tire options available for navigating the Rocky Mountains’ unpredictable backcountry trails and surfaces. He set out to design a tire that could handle the sharpest rocks, deepest mud, and steepest inclines the Rockies could dish out.
After months of research, development, and testing prototypes, Henry successfully created a rugged all-terrain tire that exceeded his expectations for traction and durability. As word spread about his specialty tires, demand grew rapidly among fellow outdoor enthusiasts. Within just a few years, Rocky Mountain Tires outgrew Henry’s small garage workshop and he opened a dedicated production facility to meet the needs of his loyal customers.
Over the decades, Rocky Mountain Tires has stayed true to Henry Wilson’s original vision – creating bold, adventure-ready tires optimized for the most challenging terrains.
