FAQs

Determining the right ceiling fan size depends on your room dimensions. As a general rule of thumb, you'll want a fan with a blade span of 36-44 inches for rooms up to 75 sq ft, 44-50 inches for rooms 75-144 sq ft, 50-54 inches for rooms 144-225 sq ft, and 54 inches or more for larger rooms over 225 sq ft. Our sizing guide provides specific recommendations. Measure your room size and consult our guides to pick the optimized Kensgrove® fan.

We offer several mounting configurations to work in any space: standard downrod mounts, low-profile mounts, angled mounts, and flush mounts. Downrod mounts allow the most airflow and are best for 8 ft or higher ceilings. Low-profile mounts situate fans closer to the ceiling in spaces with height restrictions. Angled mounts point the fan toward the center of the room. Flush mounts are discreet and ideal for lower ceilings.

Use a microfiber cloth or soft brush to dust both sides of the fan blades regularly. For deeper cleaning, dip the cloth in a mild soap and water solution. Wring it out thoroughly so it's just damp, then wipe down each blade. Avoid harsh chemicals. Dry the blades completely with a dry towel. Our help guides have more detailed tips for keeping your fan looking its best.

Our smart ceiling fans work with our proprietary Kensgrove® app for iOS and Android to control speed, lighting, schedules, and more. Many models also pair with major smart home platforms like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, Samsung SmartThings, and more for voice control. Refer to the product details to confirm smart functionality.

Download the Kensgrove® app and create an account. Press and hold the connectivity button on your fan for 5+ seconds until it blinks to initiate pairing mode. Open the app to add the device and follow the on-screen instructions to connect it to your WiFi network. Our handy video tutorials walk through the entire process.

We offer a wide selection of finishes like brushed nickel, oil-rubbed bronze, brushed steel, chrome, gloss black, matte black, and more to match any style and decor. Outdoor fans feature durable finishes that withstand weathering. Browse our entire finish portfolio to find your perfect match.

In warmer months, run the fan clockwise on lower speeds to generate a cool downdraft breeze. In winter, reverse to counterclockwise on low for gentle updraft circulation that pushes rising heat downwards. Some fans include a reverse button to easily change direction.

Our fans include easy installation instructions and mounts to make DIY installation straightforward. However, if you need assistance, our Pro Referral network connects you with local electricians experienced at installing ceiling fans properly and safely. Some basic electrical knowledge is recommended.

Certain models in our outdoor living collection are specifically engineered for uncovered spaces like patios, porches, or pergolas. They feature water-resistant materials and finishes designed to withstand humidity, rain, and other outdoor elements while still providing comfort.
